Superintendent of Schools
Sean an extensive administrative background, vast teaching experience and comprehensive educational training, as well as coaching, mentoring and other community involvement. Mr. Gallagher has served as an Athletic Director, High School Principal, Assistant Superintendent and presently the Superintendent of Newburyport Public Schools since 2018. His administrative leadership experiences, combined with his teaching experiences provides insight and knowledge of the challenges that our students face day to day. In addition to his educational background he also worked as a police officer the Salem Police department in Salem, MA.
Sean loves helping others and making a difference. His leadership is leading by example as a positive role model. Throughout his entire educational career, he has been a mentor to countless students and staff members.
Being part of the DEI committee is critical to bringing positive change. A strong school environment is one that is accepting of all that makes decisions based upon what is best for students. An inclusive school community is critical to ensure equity for all learners.
In his free time, he enjoys family life with his two daughters Emma and Sydney and their little dog Tucker! Additionally, he likes to exercise and has recently joined Cross-Fit.
He hopes to bring open and honest communication to our schools as a way to examine and instill inclusive practices which will benefit all students and staff.
